25 Feb 2002: Added performance tutorial
I've added a new tutorial on improving the performance of
Jostraca. (Thanks to Steve for feedback on this).
When I sat down to write this tutorial, I had to face a question I had
been putting off for quite some time: how to prepare documentation for
Jostraca, so that I could produce many different formats (PDF, HTML,
etc) from the same source text.
The answer is Star/OpenOffice. Not only
does StarOffice use XML as a native file format, it also makes a
decent job of saving to HTML. Because the HTML produced by StarOffice
is simple and comprehensible, a small Perl script can be used to modify it
slightly to fit the style of this site. The only other question was
how to produce PDF documents. For this I used Ghostscript and Redmon.
